Chair mats are an important addition to the office but one we don’t often think about, or  maybe one we don’t think we need. Here are 5 reasons why chair mats are a necessity:

1. Chairs can easily wear down carpeting and other types of flooring from the pressure of people sitting in them all day long. Chair mats prevent marks and distress on expensive carpeting and other types of flooring.
2. If you’re spending all day sitting in your chair at your desk you are probably going to have some coffee or eat some lunch in it. At some point or another you are also probably going to have a couple spills. It’s nice to have a bit of a safety net, something super easy to clean up, something that’s not going to get stained. Like a chair mat!
3. They make rolling chairs easier to roll around on in places that you wouldn’t normally have an easy time rolling around on. Like a carpet!
4. If you run an office then chances are you aren’t having employees take off their shoes at the door, so these chair mats will come in handy because they will catch dirt coming off the shoes from throughout the day.
5. Chair Mats are great for alleviating back and leg pain as chairs can easily glide around the mat. Without chair mats, people have to repetitively push around the chair with their legs which can lead to a lot of leg and back aches

Anti-fatigue kitchen mats used to only be for commercial kitchens and due to the popularity and because they were such a necessity for so many chefs even when they were at home because of how comfortable they were were then made into a smaller more pleasant looking residential version. As far as decorations go pretty much anything goes as long as it’s green, but here are some tips!

Table:

Find a green table cloth, you can find cheap plastic ones at a dollar store but you could also grab a few yards of green fabric from any fabric store, a lot of different fabrics will work as long as it doesn’t have any stretch in it. For a laidback type party, cover your table with prepared snacks and just place a stack of green paper plates and green napkins. For a really festive look toss some green party beads around the table.

House:

Green flower arrangements can look really nice and they can look good hanging around in the house even after St. Patrick’s Day. A really simple an inexpensive way to add a lot of green to your house is to cut out a bunch of different sizes of four leave clovers from green construction paper, using different shades of green makes for a nice look. Green Christmas lights can add a lot of oomph to any space.

Door:

Green popcorn

Ingredients:

• 16 cups of popped popcorn
• 1 cup of sugar
• ½ cup packed brown sugar
• ½ cup light corn syrup
• 1 teaspoon salt
• ½ cup butter
• 8-10 drops of green food coloring

Directions:

1. Combine sugars, water, corn syrup, vinegar and salt in a large heavy sauce pan, cook, stirring occasionally, until a candy thermometer reads 260 degrees
2. Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted, stir in food coloring, then drizzle over warm popcorn and toss until coated

Spinach Dip

Ingredients:

• 2 tsp olive oil
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1.5 pounds spinach, cleaned, trimmed, and coarsely chopped
• 1/2 cup 2% milk
• 6 ounces of cream cheese
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella
• Coarse salt and ground pepper
• Pita wedges for serving/or corn chips

Directions:

1. In a large pan, heat oil over medium. Add onion and garlic; cook until lightly browned, 5 to 8 minutes.
2. Add spinach and cook until completely wilted, 5 to 8 minutes.
3. Transfer to a colander; drain, pressing to release all excess liquid.
4. In the same pot, warm milk over high heat. Whisk in cream cheese until melted, about 3 minutes.
5. Add spinach, Worcestershire sauce, and 3/4 cup mozzarella; stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer over medium low heat until ready to serve. Transfer to serving dish and add pita wedges or corn chips for dipping.

Green Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 3/4 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 cup butter at room temperature

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
• Green food coloring

Instructions

1. Measure the flour, baking soda and salt into a medium-sized bowl. Stir well and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer for about 1 minute. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
3. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar, mixing well after each addition. The dough should be stiff.
4. Add several drops of green food coloring. Knead the dough until the color is evenly distributed. (Make sure children wash their hands immediately after kneading–food coloring can be messy.)
5. Gather the dough into two balls, flatten into disks beginning at the edge of the dough and working toward the center. Cover with plastic and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
6. After the dough has chilled, place one half on a large piece of plastic wrap, cover with another piece of plastic wrap and then roll until it is 1/4-inch thick. Lift off the top sheet of plastic wrap and cut out shamrocks, beginning at the edge of the dough and working toward the center.
7. Place each shamrock on an ungreased baking sheet. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 8 minutes or until the edges begin to lightly brown. Remove to a rack to cool. For particularly festive shamrocks, decorate them with green candies or frosting.
   Makes about 34.

Green Veggies and Dip

Any green veggies you can dip! Pick up a ranch or dill dip from the grocery store and serve!

Lime Margaritas!

Super easy recipe

Ingredients:

• 6 oz. (one can) frozen limeade
• 6 oz. (1 can) tequila
• 3 oz. (1/2 can) triple sec

Preparation:

1. Fill blender with ice, add all ingredients and blend
2. Salt glass rims and pour mix in

Apple Martinis

Ingredients:

• 2 oz vodka
• 1 oz green-apple schnapps

Preparation:

1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Jello Shooters

Ingredients:

• Any type of jello that is green
• 1 cup of boiling water
• 1 cup of vodka or tequila
• Dixe Cups

Preparation:

1. Boil water
2. Dissolve jello mix with boiled water
3. Mix in alcohol
4. Pour into Dixie cups and place in fridge for 4 hours

Green Beer

Ingredients:

• Beer
• Green food coloring
• Glass mugs

Preparation

1. Pour beer into glass mug
2. Put in 1 or 2 drops of green food coloring
