Anime Inspired Doormats

Are you one of the otaku? If the term draws a blank, then you must be a senpai. Or a parent who has a kawaii kid who goes "Sugoi!" when they see Saiyan or Trigun.

Okay let's talk in an understandable language again. Otaku means a die-hard fan, senpai means an older person, kawaii means cute, Sugoi means wow and Saiyan and Trigun are cartoon characters and together they're all part of the anime universe. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Speed Racer Matrix, Powerpuff Girls are all film work influenced or inspired by anime.

Anime is a style of cartoons from Japan. They can be animation or comic books. Fun fact: when the Japanese say anime, they are speaking exclusively of animation. Comic books are separate and are called manga. Also worth knowing is that lovely the Japanese people do not think of anime or manga as an exclusive Japanese style of comics or animation. For them, anime is a word for all animation, and manga is all comic books, no matter where in the world they originate from and irrespective of design or styling. So, a Batman comic book would be as much manga as Naruto.

Originally, and for a long time, anime was produced for local consumption by audiences in Japan. It had a distinct style, not just in terms of the illustration style but also the concepts, storytelling, and themes; the fight between good and evil is a popular one. Over the years, anime found its way across the globe, traveling on the currents of popular culture and finding a permanent audience through the appreciation for exotic cultural forms by the youth. For anime lovers, or otaku, it is a unique art form and a universe with a distinct style, dressing, vocabulary, concepts, and lore.

With that quick anime 101, we'd like to introduce you to some of our anime inspired doormats, see if you can get them to become a part of the anime universe in your home. They also make great gifts for all otaku. Come take a look at the collection of anime mats we have.
